FAQs

Why should I see a counsellor?

Talking with a counsellor gives you a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings. Whether you're facing stress, relationship challenges, or just need someone to talk to, counselling can help you build coping strategies and develop greater self-awareness. I won't diagnose mental health conditions, but I will support you with practical tools to help you move forward.

Does counselling actually help?

Many of my clients say that counselling has helped them make sense of their thoughts, feel more in control, and discover strengths they didn’t know they had. Real change often begins with feeling heard and understood.
What makes counselling effective is the relationship we build, one based on trust, respect, and comfort. After a session, it can be helpful to ask yourself:

  • Did I feel safe and listened to?

  • Could I talk openly, without feeling judged?

  • Did it feel like a space where I could be myself?
If the answer is yes, then you’re in the right place to do meaningful work.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on you. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others prefer regular, ongoing support. We'll talk about your goals and work out a plan that feels right for you.

Can I claim through Medicare?

Currently, counselling sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates.

What if I need to cancel a session?

Life happens, if you need to cancel, just give at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice won’t be refunded, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Why do I need to pay before the session?

Paying ahead of time just helps keep things simple and stress-free. That way, we don’t have to worry about any admin during your session, and we can focus fully on what matters you.

What are sessions like?

The first session is about getting to know each other and understanding what’s brought you here. We’ll talk about what you’d like to get out of counselling, but there’s no pressure you set the pace.
As we continue, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to see what’s helping you and what might be holding you back. There’s no script or checklist just space to explore what matters most to you, with support every step of the way.
